Terms of entry – Champion of Champions Sausage 2019

Conditions of entry

  1. By entering the Competition, the entrant will be deemed to have read and understood these rules and to be bound by them. These rules include any instructions set out with the entry form and within the Competition details.
  2. Any employees (and their families) of William Reed Business Media Ltd, its agents and anybody professionally connected with the Competition are not eligible for entry
  3. Entrants must be independent butchers and make their own entries. Only sausages manufactured in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland are eligible for entry. Entrants may not enter sausages of the same description as any entry with which they have previously won the Competition.
  4. Sausages entered (“Entries”) must have been the overall winner of a Competition or evaluation solely for participation by independent butchers organised by a body of standing in the food industry, or in the event of no overall winner, the winner of the highest relevant category available i.e., Best Sausage. Competitions eligible must have taken place between 1st September 2018 and 1st September 2019. The decision as to whether or not any Competition or evaluation so qualifies is in the absolute discretion of the judges. ‘Winner’ means a sausage selected as better than any other sausage against which it was judged.
  5. All entry forms must be sent by prepaid post or courier to Micia Falaki, Champion of Champions, William Reed Business Media Ltd, Broadfield Park, Crawley RH11 9RT or by email to Micia.falaki@wrbm.com to arrive no later than 5pm on Monday 23rd September 2019. Proof of posting or transmission will not be deemed to be proof of delivery.
  6. Entry forms will only be accepted if they are completed in full, in ink and signed by the person responsible for submitting the entry and to whom any correspondence concerning the Competition should be addressed.
  7. Entrants must deliver their Entries in person to Hilton London Bankside, 2 – 8 Great Suffolk St, London SE1 0UG on Monday 4th November 2019 between 9.00am and 9.45am. Entries will not be accepted unless an entry form has previously been received in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  8. Responsibility cannot be accepted for lost, late or mislaid entry forms or Entries and any which are damaged, corrupted or incomplete or which otherwise do not comply with these terms and conditions may be deemed invalid in the sole discretion of the judges.
  9. Entries must be made to the same recipe as the sausages winning the qualifying competition or evaluation for entry to the Competition.
  10. Qualifying sausages may only be entered once but there is no limit on the number of different qualifying entries a manufacturer may submit.
  11. Entries must be products for human consumption and be in date for consumption on the day of the judging.
  12. Entries must be identified by their product description only on a sticky label placed on the overwrapping. The business name MUST NOT be included.
  13. Entries must arrive chilled and presented on unlabeled white polystyrene trays, overwrapped and without garnish.
  14. Entries must consist of 1lb (454gms) of raw and 1lb (454gms) of cooked. A tolerance of +/- 1oz (28gms) will be allowed.
  15. Entries may be linked or presented individually with no limitation to the number of sausages to the 1lb (454gms). An equal number of raw and cooked sausages must be entered.
  16. All entries must contain at least 30% meat.
  17. Entries will become the property of the Organiser.
  18. The Organiser reserves the right at its absolute discretion to reject any entries it deems inappropriate.
  19. There will be one winner only of the title Champion of Champions 2019, which will be announced at the awards lunch.
  20. The Competition will be judged by a panel of expert and independent judges selected by the Organiser.
  21. The Organiser reserves the right to change the judging panel without prior notice to entrants.
  22. The decision of the chairman of the judges on all matters affecting this Competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  23. The winner may be required to take part in some post-event publicity and consents to appearing in photographs being used for such purposes.
  24. By entering the Competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the data controller for the purposes of the administration of this Competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
  25. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
